As one of the world’s largest producers of grains and livestock, America and its farmers are no strangers to the environmental impact of this industry. Large CAFO operations and massive crop farms produce astronomical amounts of animal waste and fertilizer runoff. Left unmanaged, these nutrient-rich waste streams can devastate local water systems.
Due to poor agricultural wastewater management in the Lake Erie watershed, algal blooms have become a regular occurrence. Toxic algae contaminates our drinking water, decimates our aquatic ecosystem, and can cause serious disease. Here at SageGuard, Lake Erie is our backyard. That's why we work together with the Ohio EPA, local farmers, and local municipalities to dispose of animal waste sustainably and to implement treatment solutions that mitigate the impact of phosphate and nitrate runoff.
